One in Ten Sellers Reduces Asking Price Within the First 30 Days, Study Finds

A recent study by property purchasing specialist, House Buyer Bureau, has revealed fascinating insights into the UK's property market. The study analyzed the level of property for sale introduced to the market in the last 30 days, finding that over 85,000 homes have been listed for sale across the property market in England. But the study also found that around one in 10 home sellers reduces their asking price within 30 days of entering the market, another clear sign of cooling demand in the property market.

A significant proportion of home sellers - precisely 7.3% or 6,215 homes - had already reduced their asking price within the first month of entering the market. These reductions were concentrated in the East of England, South East, and London, where the largest levels of properties reducing their price within 30 days of entering the market were found.

However, even with these substantial price reductions, just 5.7% of all homes that have seen a price reduction are under offer or sold subject to contract. This finding highlights the importance of pricing homes appropriately in line with current market conditions when first entering the market, rather than reducing the asking price after listing.
